eXStatA Wiring


Wiring for the solid state and hybrid boards is identical except that the hybrid version requires the additional heater wiring.

Please look at these diagrams carefully and you should have no trouble wiring up the amp.

Be careful not to swap the -300V and SG terminal wiring. If you do you will blow your PS.

Solid State Board Wiring

Use this diagram for wiring up the sand boards. The diagram also shows the optional power LED and the alternate single ended input wiring. Output jack wiring depends on your headphones.

Hybrid Board Wiring

Use this diagram for wiring up the hybrid boards. The diagram also shows the optional power LED, the alternate single ended input wiring, and the heater wiring. Follow the wiring paths on this diagram for the heaters, entering the boards from the back edge. Output jack wiring depends on your headphones.

Heatsink Wiring to Prevent Oscillation

The boards were designed very conservatively to prevent possible arcing. The heatsinks were left floating. However, early beta builds indicate that parasitic heatsink capacitance causes oscillation of the amp. There is a simple heatsink wiring fix for this problem. Performance of the amp is not affected by this additional wiring.

Input Wiring for Switched Balanced/SE

The eXStatA can be driven with either balanced or single ended signals. A 4PDT switch can be used to wire the input for switchable balanced or SE mode. With a switched input you can leave the balanced and SE sources connected at the same time.
